A Poor Young Boy and The Dog

A few days ago I landed at the Bombay Airport (India) and took a cab to my scheduled destination in South Bombay.

I was enjoying the busy traffic with people rushing in every possible directions then we got stranded at a very busy intersection.

As we waited for the signal to turn green, my eyes met up with a poor young boy, about 12 years old. He removed a piece of bread from his pocket and took a bite.

As he was about to take his next bite, a stray dog wagged his tail looking at him. Without hesitation, he sat down and put the bread on the road for the dog to eat.

The dog sniffed the bread and walked away. The boy waited until he was sure the dog was gone then he picked up the bread and ate it!

My heart cried and wanted to walk up to the boy but before I could open the door the signal turned Green and our car drove away. I kept thinking about the boy and later during my evening meal I realized that I was thinking of approaching the boy but never did, I could have stopped the car and walked up to him which again I never did.

All I did was “thinking” and this poor little boy who had only one piece of bread without any hesitation sharing it with the dog, though he himself seemed to be very hungry.

I learnt one of the biggest lessons in my life which that boy taught me without a conversation. He taught me to share with love and happiness. I am so blessed to have learnt this beautiful lesson from my ‘little unknown master’. It is my moral duty to share this incident with all my friends across the globe and be blessed with happiness.

Thank you friends for making this world a beautiful place to dwell.

Self Confidence

There was a business executive who was deep in debt and could see no way out.

Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said.

After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.”

He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.”

Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!

“I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

“I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering you. He’s always escaping from the rest home and telling people he’s John D. Rockefeller.”

And she led the old man away by the arm.

The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he’d been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn’t the money, real or imagined, that had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

Firefox 30 With New Sidebars Button and More Now Available For Download

The new browser Firefox 30 for desktops can be updated from the About Firefox option under theHelp menu, or can be downloaded from the Firefox’s website. For Android users the update has rolled out to India, with the Google Play store showing an update on June 10.

The Firefox 30 update for WindowsMac and Linux includes several bugs fixes, as well as new features like a button for direct access to sidebars for social, bookmark, and history, as well as support for GStreamer 1.0. The open source multimedia framework GStreamer essentially helps constructing graphs of media-handling components.

The Firefox 30 for Android has added new quickshare buttons to the context menu, and support for new locales like Argentine Spanish, Belarusian, Indonesian, Latvian, Malay, and Mexican Spanish. Web content on home screen panels is another new feature. Mozilla has also provide the complete changelog list for desktopdevelopers, and Android.

In terms of design, the browser sticks to the recently updated Firefox 29 with its overhauled UI design. Mozilla had termed these changes as a part of its effort to offer a ‘simplified main interface’.

The Firefox 29 updated for Windows, Mac and Linux is designed for greater highlight on the current tab that sees other tabs fading in the background for less distraction. Other changes included with this version of the browser were a redesigned and customisable Firefox menu, which opens up as a pane on the right side. Notably, the redesigned tab structure, and the menu is similar to Google’s Chromebrowser.

Next Internet Explorer to Bring Web Audio, Media Capture, HTTP/2 and More

Microsoft on Wednesday announced that the next version of Internet Explorer will come with at least these four new features: Web Audio, Media Capture, ES6 Promises, and HTTP/2. The technology major states that the list of new features is not an exhaustive one.

Web Audio is a JavaScript API for processing audio in Web applications. Media capture provides access local audio and video input/output devices of the user’s directly on the browser. HTTP/2 is an upgraded protocol for faster transportation of Web content based on Google’s SPDY open networking protocol while ES6 Promises helps developers write cleaner asynchronous code, explains The Next Web.

Microsoft states in a blog post that it is looking at the Web as a holistic platform that “should just work for everyone – users, developers and businesses.” By this vision the company hopes to make a case for interoperability. Adding to it the company wants to “encourage pragmatism than always standing on a narrow principle.”

The company lists the following top priorities for the future: getting more users to use the latest version of the Internet Explorer, improving security, and adopting backwards capability and interoperability.

Moreover, Microsoft highlighted that, first showed at Build 2014 conference last month, was coming out of beta and these are the improvements.

  • Open Sourced – The entire site and the data backing it is available on GitHub under the Apache V2 license.
  • Improved Search & Filter: The new “Interop” menu lets you easily enter in your browser support interests to find available features.
  • Deep Linking – via HTML5 History and Angular routing, the site now enables you to deep link to a feature you want to share with others.
  • Better Mobile Support & Performance – Looking at the increase in the use of smartphones, the company has optimized the website further to ensure developers can get at the latest browser status details on the go.

We are eager to see what Microsoft does with the next version of Internet Explorer.

(यह कहानी पाउलो कोएलो की किताब “The Devil and Miss Prym” से ली गयी है. A story on friendship by Paulo Coelho – in Hindi)

A man, his horse and his dog were traveling down a road. When they were passing by a gigantic tree, a bolt of lightning struck and they all fell dead on the spot.

But the man did not realize that he had already left this world, so he went on walking with his two animals; sometimes the dead take time to understand their new condition…

The journey was very long, uphill, the sun was strong and they were covered in sweat and very thirsty. They were desperately in need of water. At a bend in the road they spotted a magnificent gateway, all in marble, which led to a square paved with blocks of gold and with a fountain in the center that spouted forth crystalline water.

The traveler went up to the man guarding the gate.

“Good morning. What is this beautiful place?”

“This is heaven.”

“How good to have reached heaven, we’re ever so thirsty.”

“You can come in and drink all you want.”

“My horse and my dog are thirsty too.”

“So sorry, but animals aren’t allowed in here.”

The man was very disappointed because his thirst was great, but he could not drink alone; he thanked the man and went on his way. After travelling a lot, they arrived exhausted at a farm whose entrance was marked with an old doorway that opened onto a tree-lined dirt road.

A man was lying down in the shadow of one of the trees, his head covered with a hat, perhaps asleep.

“Good morning,” said the traveller. “We are very thirsty – me, my horse and my dog.”

“There is a spring over in those stones,” said the man, pointing to the spot. “Drink as much as you like.”

The man, the horse and the dog went to the spring and quenched their thirst. Then the traveler went back to thank the man.

“By the way, what’s this place called?”

“Heaven? But the guard at the marble gate back there said that was heaven!”

“That’s not heaven, that’s hell.”

The traveler was puzzled.

“You’ve got to stop this! All this false information must cause enormous confusion!”

The man smiled: “Not at all. As a matter of fact they do us a great favor. Because over there stay all those who are even capable of abandoning their best friends…”
